David Hockney was born in Bradford, England on July 9th 1937. He was a painter that focused on landscapes and nature. He was known for being the most influential british artist of the 20th century. H traveled to many places and pursued teaching in many Universities such as the Los Angeles, Berkeley, and Colorado Boulder. He really incorporated his teachings and work through his art.
In order to create this collage, we took several pictures of one form of landscape in order to create one final image. I began with a background picture and working my way from the top corner to the bottom corner. I scaled each picture and placed it in order to fit the image as a whole.

I choose ELLE because it is a well-known magazine and maintains a good perception of beauty products. I love the way they edit their magazines and how they edit their backgrounds to make the models standout. I emulated ELLE's by using their logo and using a plain white background to make Sophie standout.
I then used several fonts with different text sizes in order to emulate the style of the magazine. I looked at an ELLE magazine in order to research what sort of texts they placed in order to draw in customers. I used several photoshop tools such as the paintbrush, layer masks, eraser tool, etc in order to make the picture seem like a magazine cover. A strobe light is used as a flash for your camera. This is a strong quick flash that provides light to the subject's face. The main goal of a modeling light is to give the photographer a sense of the lighting effect. They help the photographer emphasize where the light and shadow falls on the subject being photographed. A soft box works with the strobe light and provides a softer source of lighting. A reflector bounces and diffuses natural and artificial light. A gray card is used to confirm accurate color. it ensures that the lighting is accurate and isn't too over or underexposed. A radio signal transmitter sends a signal to the strobe light to initiate the flash. Reminiscent Waves
This picture was taken at the pier in Oceanside, CA. The compositional rule of this picture is symmetry. The picture is lined in order to have all components perfectly balanced on each side. I took this picture because the photo was so well balanced; however, the man threw off the symmetry within the picture. The state of him reminiscing while staring onto the beach emphasizes typical San Diego County lifestyle in which our city is known for our beautiful relaxing beaches. I used a Nikon D5300 camera with a 18- 140mm lens and used Adobe Photoshop to order to edit the picture. The original picture was a little too dark in which I used Photoshop to create a layer mask to brighten the picture. I then used several tools such as the clone stamp and healing brush in order to fix the white spots that appeared on the bench. I also used the paintbrush to color the layer mask –of the brightened picture- onto the original background picture. After editing the picture, I printed it on Epson Glossy Photo Paper on the Epson P800 digital printer. In order to do this project I took several pictures. I used a picture that I took of a branch and flipped it in order to look like a tree. I then made this into layer one in order to edit it. I then used another picture, I cropped it and used the lasso tool in order to copy the flower onto layer one. I then duplicated the 2nd layer of the flower in order to put several flowers on each branch. I used the color balance tool in order to make the flower bright pink and to make one of them an orangish pink colors. I then added another tab in photoshop and opened a new file and choose a picture I had taken of little flowers. I then chose a plain white layout and added the little flowers to it and then changed the color balance to make them bright pink as well. I placed these under Horton (the elephant) to make little piles of flowers. I then used the lasso tool in order to place clouds onto the image. I then merged all the layers together to make one whole picture.
A Mandala is a picture used and transformed into a circular shape. I liked how something so simple can be transformed into a beautiful picture. It's like creating art through a picture. I struggled to transform the original picture; however, it became easy once I got the hang of it. This was a project that I really enjoyed; therefore, if I choose to do this again I wouldn't do it differently.
How to create a Mandala: 1. Open up adobe flash and go to file--> open and use a mandala template in order to ensure all the pictures are lined up perfectly 2. Then click on the magic wand tool in order to choose a triangle from the mandala 3. Then go to file --> open and choose a picture to use 4. Then drag the triangle onto the picture you want to use and place it on the area you want 5. Then copy and paste(command c) on the triangle and drag onto the template 6. Then go to layer-- duplicate layer. then use the move tool to drag the duplicated image onto the triangle next to it. Then go to edit transform, flip horizontal and/or rotate it. Keep doing this until the whole circle is filled. 7. Remove the template in order to ensure there are no lines on the background. |
